This training is designed to equip mental health professionals with the knowledge and clinical judgment needed to assess, treat, or refer public safety professionals presenting  with complex psychological needs. Attendees will learn about the spectrum of mental health concerns faced by public safety personnel, understand inpatient and outpatient  levels of care, and explore the unique cultural factors impacting treatment success and engagement.

After attending this training, attendees will be able to:

•  Identify common mental health conditions and barriers to treatment that affect public safety professionals.
•  Differentiate between outpatient, intensive outpatient, and inpatient/residential levels of care and describe when each is clinically appropriate.
•  Describe the elements of culturally competent inpatient treatment.
•  Understand the role of the referring clinician, employer/agency, and peer support in facilitating successful treatment engagement, transition, and reintegration.

Certifications & Qualifying Credits Available

Course meets the qualifications for hours of continuing education credit for LMFTs, LCSWs, LPCCs, and/or LEPs as required by the California Board of Behavioral Sciences.  (2 CE Units for all licenses under California BBS)
